Betel Children’s Home was founded by Brazilian Christians in 1975 to provide potential street children with the security of a home where daily needs are met and there are opportunities to learn, play and worship.
There are about 170 youngsters at Betel, over half of whom are teenagers. These are children who risked ending up living on the streets had they not been introduced to Betel. They come from families which have disintegrated as a result of poverty or they have run away following abuse and neglect; some have been abandoned by parents or been in trouble with the law. The majority carry the scars, physical or psychological, of ill treatment by the adult world.
