For reasons of economy, food is prepared centrally. Isaltino is responsible for the kitchen and is assisted by groups of older teenagers.

The basic menu of rice & beans is served twice daily along with whatever meat or vegetable is available. Most food is donated by supermarkets as it approaches its sell-by date!

To feed this family for a day requires

-> 20 kg flour -> 50 kg rice -> 30 kg beans ->   8 bottles of cooking oil -> 24 kg macaroni -> 20 kg meat -> 6 boxes of veg
